Antique Independent Order of Rechabites Masonic Regalia
Item Details
A collection of circa mid to late-19th century regalia and accoutrements. Featured here is a cream silk woven sash or banner with red trim and fringe, featuring a colorful woven image of an angel and a woman flanking a shield, with a variety of other symbols and motifs, marked with with ‘Independent Order of Rechabites’ above, and ‘Salford Unity’ below, along with ‘Peace & Plenty – The Rewards of Temperance’ and ‘Temperance – Fortitude – Justice’. Other items include a leather pouch with red and blue triangle patterned borders and a canvas strap with brass hardware that features a detailed brass snake motif; a matching, red and blue silk sash with fringe; a cream grosgrain ribbon with an enameled brass bar and brass chain fringe; and a brass stamped triangle with symbols in the center. The inside flap of the bag is labeled ‘Arthur E. Bowen – Regalia Maker – Adelaide’.

- to Poor; sash or banner is very fragile, with discoloration, splits and tears throughout; pouch is very worn and damaged including holes and stains throughout; metal is worn and tarnished, some with green oxidation; red/blue silk sash is fragile and damaged with tears, stains, holes and wear throughout
