A watercolor painting on paper by listed artist Robert Herrmann (American; 1922-1996), dated late 20th century. This work depicts a truncated view of a partially abstracted architectural scene comprised of an angular view to adjacent buildings and a vibrant cloudy sky. The piece is initialed “RH” to the lower right. The composition is presented within white matting. Included is an exhibition catalog from Cincinnati Art Galleries.
Herrmann acquired his formal artistic and architectural training at the University of Cincinnati, University of Wisconsin, Ohio State University, University of Iowa, and Columbia University. While professionally trained, he chose to never exhibit his work publicly, making his first solo exhibit posthumous. He is known for his precisionist style and his paintings of architectural landscapes.
