Robert Herrmann 1989 Architectural Watercolor Painting

Item Details

An original 1989 watercolor painting by listed Ohio artist Robert Herrmann (1922 – 1996). The painting is created in Herrmann’s signature minimalist geometric style and depicts three umbrellas rising from a series of squat buildings painted in shades of blue, pink, brown, and mustard. The painting is initialed and dated in graphite to the lower right. It is matted in white and wrapped in acetate for safekeeping.

Herrmann acquired his formal artistic and architectural training at the University of Cincinnati, University of Wisconsin, Ohio State University, University of Iowa, and Columbia University. While professionally trained, he chose to never exhibit his work publicly, making his first solo exhibit posthumously. He is known for his precisionist style and his paintings of architectural landscapes.
