An antique late Victorian mahogany washstand. This English piece features a rectangular, dark marble top with curved front edge featuring a high back splash. The back splash features a straight crest rail and square mirror with carved acanthus leaf and scroll supports over a decorative tile back with four petite shelve flanked by scalloped side panels topped with finials. The washstand features three aligned drawers with dovetail joinery, carved front panels, and decorative brass plates with turned handles over a central open storage space with decorative spandrels, turned supports, and a banister rail. The open storage space is flanked on both sides by a single cabinet door with carved central panel and brass drop handle. The cabinet doors open to a single shelf. This piece terminates on a plinth base. There are no visible maker’s marks.
