A mixed media painting on paper fully titled American Paratroops Returning to Amiens, France Feb. 1945, by listed American Western artist Charles Damrow (1916-1989), created in 1945. This work features a group of soldiers gathered in a shed, looking out to the rural fields through the open door. The painting is signed and dated ‘France – 45’ to the lower left. It is presented under glass, double-matted with a silver-tone sight edge, and housed in a green and pewter-tone wood frame. The title of the work is handwritten to the verso; also present to the verso are a few labels, some of which are from Bernard Ewell Art Appraisals and the Garden of the Gods Art Gallery.

Condition

- minor smudges throughout glass; minor wear in frame including scratches, stains, and finish loss scattered throughout.
