Vintage Jewel Embellished Elephant on Embroidered Red Velvet Base

A vintage figural metal elephant with a sedan chair, rider, and driver, lavishly adorned with cabochon rubies (heat treated), emeralds (oiled), sapphires (heat treated), garnets, coral, cultured pearls and turquoise. The elephant’s canopy and blanket has a fringe of alternating cultured pearls and emeralds and the red velvet oval base is embellished with a garland of gold beaded embroidery.
