1968-69 Bengals Paul Brown Correspondence Letters

Item Details

A group of correspondence letters that occurred between founder/head coach of the Cincinnati Bengals Paul Brown and a fan. A football fan and future Bengals season ticket holder entered a Cincinnati Enquirer newspaper contest on naming the new professional football team in Cincinnati. Howard Buckley won the prize. There is a Nippert Stadium seating map; a typed letter to Mrs. Buckley, signed by Paul Brown with a blue ink pen on Paul’s personal letterhead; two typed letters with the 1968 Bengals letterhead (one has a facsimile Paul Brown signature); two order forms, one of which is filled out for Mr. Buckley for the first season in 1968; one order form from the University of Cincinnati about purchasing a parking pass; and two plastic cards (one for Howard, one for his wife Margie) stipulating that they attended the first Bengal game on September 20, 1970 at Riverfront Stadium. The plastic cards have the Bengals helmet logo and the Frisches restaurant logo. The Bengals address was in the Carew Tower. The signatures have not been authenticated.
