East Asian Style Embroideries on Fabric Featuring "Herding Horse" After Han Gan
Item Details
A pair of East Asian style embroideries on fabric. The first of these pieces depicts a hunched elderly man with a beard and cane wearing colorful robes. It is unsigned and unmarked. The second piece, titled Herding Horse after a painting by Tang Dynasty artist Han Gan (c. 706-783) depicts a man on a white horse behind a grey horse without a rider, stitched on beige fabric with Asian characters and seals in the margins. Each piece is presented under glass in a wood frame, wired to hang.
Condition
- stain to the verso of frame with horses; stains throughout the image areas; nicks and scratches to frames throughout.
