Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Kashan area rug. This rug is hand-knotted in a palette of midnight blue, cherry red, cream, golden yellow, forest green, powder blue, pink, and sage. It features a stepped diamond shaped medallion on a field densely patterned with lancet leaves, shah abbasi palmettes, and curling vines. It is framed with barber pole stripe and carnation meander guard borders, with a curvilinear herati main border. Finished with overcast selvedges and fringe to either end. Insriptions are woven into the border at each end; per the seller they read ‘Shadsar,’ the name of the manufacturer. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with short ivory wool warp fringe.
