A Hand-Knotted Persian Kerman Wool Area Rug

A hand-knotted Persian Kerman area rug. This wool rug begins with a damask rose medallion to the center with allover stylized flowers and large, oversized palmettes, in a curvilinear, dense pattern. It is rendered in rose, deep watermelon, salmon, denim, black, cinnamon, grey-blue and honey grounded over an azure colored field. Framing the rug are layered borders with large shah abbasi complimenting the field design with an outer border boasting grape vines, boteh and floral filled heart forms at each corner. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing with a short kilim skirt and short knotted ivory cotton fringe at either end. It is unlabeled.
