A crystal pâte de verre figurine by Daum of France. This piece depicts a seated dragon in shades of amber, sepia, and amethyst. It is rendered with one arm outstretched; tendrils of smoke curl from its nostrils. The figure is accented with delicate scale details, piercing eyes, and claw feet. It rests on a clear globe base, marked with incised signature: “Daum France.” Pâte de verre, or glass paste, indicates a kiln firing process in which shards of ground crystal are combined in a mold to create subtle color gradations.
