An oil painting dated 1980 and marked Ленин в1893 (‘Lenin c.1893’). This piece depicts a man walking with an umbrella down the center of a rain-wet street, with a man pulling a cart toward one edge and a carriage drawn by horses toward the other. The work is dated and illegibly signed by the artist to the lower right and features a block of Russian text reading ‘В.И. Ленин в1893г Коломенская 7.кв.47, I марксистский кружок в пределах России’ to the lower left. It is mounted in a wooden frame with a hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- to fair; minor cracks to wooden inner edge of liner; light wear to frame finish; inpainting to face and body of foreground figure; light surface wear.
