1854 Henry Manton Glass and Sterling Caster with Weighted Creamer and Shakers

Item Details

An antique glass caster by Birmingham silversmith Henry Manton. This piece features paneled sides around the glass jar and is topped with a domed and hinged sterling silver lid with a pointed finial. It is stamped ‘H.M’ alongside hallmarks for Birmingham, Victoria I duty mark, 1854, and a sterling purity mark. The caster is accompanied by a La Pierre weighted sterling creamer featuring an oval and floral band, as well as a beaded band around the footed base with a scrolled handle, and a set of weighted sterling condiment shakers with beaded trim around the shoulders and footed bases, along with chased vertical lines around the bodies. The creamer is stamped by the maker and ‘Sterling Weighted Reinforced 154’ and the shakers are marked, ‘Pat.Pend Sterling Weighted’.
