A hand painted carved wooden sculpture of a dog by Kentucky artist Edd Lambin. This painting depicts a four-legged animal posed with an open mouth, featuring beaded eyes, stout ears, a slender tail and curved limbs. It is painted with black and white stripes which is further accented with red spots. It is rendered in a manner reminiscent of Central American style Folk Art. Kentucky folk artist Edd Lambdin (b. 1935) began his art career in the mid-1980s. His colorful painted wooden sculptures are inspired by his rural Southern upbringing, with themes including monkeys, birds, snakes and religious motifs. His work has been exhibited at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, the Huntington Museum of Art, the Kentucky Folk Art Center and the Owensboro Museum of Art.
