Hand-Knotted Chinese Carved Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Chinese carved wool area rug. The rug has been woven using soft shades of peach, rose, pink, taupe, sand, ivory, mauve, sage, and salmon. There is a central floral medallion incorporating a Chinese symbol framed by scrolling vines, leaves, and flowers. The floral designs are repeated in the corners of the field. Bands of yunwei frame the field and abut the primary border infilled with flowering branches, leaves, and repeating the calligraphic motif. The transitions between colors have been carved to create dimension. The selvedges are overcast and there are short plain skirts at each end with knotted fringe.
