A carved wooden polychrome folk art sculpture by American outsider artist Edd Lambdin. The piece depicts a stylized green lizard with slim body and long tail, with blue, red and yellow painted patterns throughout. The work is signed “Edd Lambdin” in pen to the underside.
Kentucky folk artist Edd Lambdin (b. 1935) began his art career in the mid-1980s. His colorful painted wooden sculptures are inspired by his rural Southern upbringing, with themes including monkeys, birds, snakes and religious motifs. His work has been exhibited at the Kentucky Museum of Art and Craft, the Huntington Museum of Art, the Kentucky Folk Art Center and the Owensboro Museum of Art.
