Harry Shokler 1965 Oil Painting on Canvas and Serigraph on Paper

Item Details

A pair of fine art works by well-listed American artist Harry Shokler (1896-1978). The first work is an expressive oil painting on canvas depicting a rural winter landscape under wide blue skies with light clouds and a mountain in the distance. The second work is a serigraph on paper of a couple walking down a winter road leading into the mountains. All pieces are signed by the artist with the painting signed to the lower left corner in red and dated 1965, and the serigraph signed to the lower right margin in pencil. These pieces are presented in wood frames.

Harry Shokler (1896-1978) was born in Cincinnati, Ohio to Yiddish speaking Russian immigrant parents. He enrolled at the Cincinnati Art Academy and later at the School of Fine and Applied Art in NYC.
