Guillaume Azoulay Gilcee "Jacob's Struggle"

A limited edition giclee on paper titled Jacob’s Struggle D. Dore by listed French artist Guillaume Azoulay (born 1949), dated 2003. This print features a scene from Genesis of Jacob wrestling with an angel rendered with vibrant, psychedelic hues. It is edition 48 out of 50 and is signed and titled in graphite to the lower margin. A certificate of authentication is included with the work and it remains unframed.

Azoulay is well-known for his abstract paintings. Born in Morocco, the artist and his family moved to Paris when he was a boy. Largely self-taught, Azoulay sold paintings in the Paris streets to tourists. Later, the artist received a degree in drama after being rejected from the Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design. The artist has exhibited throughout the Middle East, Europe, and the United States. Currently settled in California, the artist’s work can be found in numerous private and public collections, including two pieces in the Louvre.
