"Knightia" Fossil Fish Specimen

A Knightia fossil fish specimen. This fossil of the Eocene fossil fish genus Knightia, an extinct freshwater fish related to herrings, displays preserved scales and bones with dorsal, pelvic and caudal fins visible. The fossil is preserved in a buff colored fine grained lake sediment from the Green River Formation in Wyoming.
