A hand-knotted Sino-Persian area rug. This wool rug features an allover harshang pattern incorporating palmettes, flowers, leaves and swirling vines over a black field. The field is framed by five floral borders grounded in cream, pale gray or camel, including a herati main border featuring stylized palmettes and meandering vines over cream. The palette is black, tan, gray, cornsilk and cream. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with ivory mesh skirts and long ivory cotton warp fringe. Unlabeled.
