Dora McCollister Double-Sided Oil Painting on Board of Beach Scene

An original double-sided vintage oil painting on board by well-listed Ohio artist Dora G. McCollister (1860 – 1945). The front of the painting depicts an impressionistic beach scene viewed from atop a seaside cliff. The work is rendered in thick impasto brushstrokes. The verso of the painting features an unfinished portrait of a young girl with blond hair. The painting is signed in graphite to the lower right of the portrait side and is presented without matting or framing, awaiting your choice of presentation.
McCollister graduated from the Columbus School of Art and Design in 1932 and was the first fine arts graduate of the Ringling College of Art and Design (Sarasota, Florida), in April 1937.
Condition
- abrasions and wear to edges of board. Scattered small areas of paint loss and accretions to each side of painting.
