Edgar Yaeger Oil Painting

An oil painting on canvas of a still life by well-listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (American; 1904–1997). Depicted is loosely rendered bowl of brightly colored fruit in the center of a table with a view of a lush palm tree outside. Artist’s signature is present to the lower right corner of the painting with the year of creation. Piece is presented as loose work without a frame or mat.

Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
