An oil painting on canvas of a nude figure by well-listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (American, 1904 – 1997), dated 1968. Depicted is a woman posed casually on a short chair that is draped with blue, pink, and orange fabric. Artist’s signature is present to the lower left corner with year of creation. Piece is presented as loose work without a frame or mat.

Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso, and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
