Bill Schiffer Sketches of Cats

Item Details

Ink on paper

An assortment of sketches and line drawings of cats on paper by contemporary American artist Bill Schiffer. These six pieces include several studies of seal point cats named Markus and Killer, as well as a drawing of a cross-eyed feline peering out from a forest of potted plants. The drawings are all signed and are presented unframed.

Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980s. Though he still works in many two dimensional and three dimensional art mediums, Schiffer is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
