Bill Schiffer Abstract Ink Drawings

Item Details

Ink on paper

A pair of abstract ink drawings on paper by contemporary American artist Bill Schiffer. These highly-detailed pieces are rendered with small, intentional pen lines, larger details made with negative space or black masses, to give an impression of swirling movement. They are both signed by the artist to their lower right corners and are presented without frames.

Born in New York, Bill Schiffer rose to prominence as a painter and sculptor in the early 1980s. Though he still works in many two dimensional and three dimensional art mediums, Schiffer is most well known for his unique handcrafted jewelry, which he started designing after a foray experimenting with wearable art in the fashion scene. Bill Schiffer’s art and jewelry has been shown in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London, the Musee des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, as well as major museums in Italy, Japan, Germany and the United States. His work has been featured in publications including Vogue, Elle, Bazaar, Women’s Wear Daily, Seventeen and Cosmopolitan.
