A handcrafted wooden heart-in-hand sculpture. This sculpture depicts an open hand, with a heart carved into the palm, affixed to a rectangular base. The symbol of the heart-in-hand originated as the seal of the Protestant Reformer John Calvin is associated, by its continued use, with the Amish and Shaker communities. No maker’s marks noticed.

Condition

- wear throughout, chipping of paint. Wood cracked in places. Some amount of insect damage, no indications of current activity.
