Antique Wall Mounted Covered Match Holder
Item Details
An antique wall mounted covered wall mounted match holder. The piece features a pierced backing plate with hinged lid finished with a retriever dog in marsh design and beaded trim in relief. The lid is marked ‘PATD JAN 2 1862’ near the front tab. The body of the piece features a marsh-like design in raised relief. A vintage letter documenting the history of the piece is included.
Condition
- pattern and design is worn; patent date is barely legible; oxidation throughout with some dust.
