Le Soliel Royale Replica Ship Model in Case
Item Details
A Le Soliel Royale replica ship model. As noted on the plaque to the base of the piece, Le Soliel Royale was a 104-gun French Man-O-War ship and flagship of Admiral Tourville. Her decorations were among the most ornate of all baroque period warships and the emblem of the sun seen throughout the ship, was the personal emblem of Louis XIV. The ship was built between 1668 and 1670 and was destroyed in a running battle in 1792. The model features the numerous sails, masts, cannons and elaborate rigging of the ship with ornate blue and gold tone details to the body of the ship. It is presented under glass on a black plinth.
