A hand-knotted Persian wool area rug. It features floral-shaped central pendant medallions in a palette of indigo, cream, pale blue, grey, lavender, pumpkin orange, and scarlet. The central medallions is surrounded by a pattern of palmettes and floral elements with leaves and floral sprays in indigo, cream, pale blue, grey, peach, lavender, pumpkin orange, and pale violet. The corner spandrels feature large scrolling foliate edges filled with floral and foliate patterns in indigo, peach, pale blue, grey, lavender, and pumpkin orange on a field of cream. It has a primary border of lotus flowers and palmettes on a cream ground, framed by floral and foliate guard borders in a field of pale blue. Labeled to the verso, ’Aria’s Oriental Rugs, # B30955’.
