A French pictorial tapestry/wall hanging. This machine-woven piece depicts a market scene in a desert oasis incorporating images of fruit vendors, donkeys, a woman with a baby, palm trees, temporary tents and, in the background, the walls of a city and buildings, including minarets and a large arch. The palette is shades of tan, zephyr yellow, taupe, slate blue, peach and terracotta. It is marked ‘Made in France’ on the reverse.
