Salvador Dalí Original Mixed Media Print from "La Conquête du Cosmos"

A signed limited edition artist’s proof engraving with hand-pulled lithographic color and embossing on paper by famed Spanish Surrealist Salvador Dalì’s (1904 – 1989), titled Papillons de l’anti-matiére from the artist’s series La Conquête du Cosmos. The mixed mdeia work depicts two curious creatures with butterflies on their faces making their way across a desolate orange and yellow landscape. The mixed media work is signed by Dalì and labeled ‘EA’ (abbreviate for the French version of ’artist’s proof’) in pencil to the lower corners. It is also signed by Jean Lavigne, the piece’s publisher, to the lower left. It is matted in white linen with a gold wood interior filet frame and is presented in a gold wood exterior frame with brushed gold tone finish. A hanging wire is attached to the verso, though it is only attached on one side.

Condition

- paper, mat and image has been scratched, torn and bent due to previous glass presentation; smudges to paper and mat; print loose in frame; tape to verso of frame; scratches and chips to frame.
