1930s Art Deco Donald Deskey Bar Cabinet for Hamilton

Item Details

An Art Deco bar cabinet in walnut veneers, designed by the American designer Donald Deskey (1894-1989), for Hamilton Furniture, circa 1930s. The cabinet features an upper lighted cabinet with mirrored interior and two glass shelves, above a projected base with mixing ledge, over two drawers with original handles and two lower cabinet doors, over divided shelving. The case rests on bracket feet.

Born in Blue Earth, Minnesota, Donald Deskey studied architecture at the University of California. However, instead of continuing on to become an architect, Deskey began work as an artist and industrial designer. Known for her Art Deco designs, Deskey designed the interior of Radio City Music Hall in New York City. He is also the designer who created the Tide bullseye logo, as well as the packaging for Crest toothpaste.
