An oil painting on buckskin. This portrait depicts a man in a Native American headdress, a greenish tie around his neck and a placid expression on his face. The work features painterly brushwork and is rendered on a piece of buckskin with an irregular edge. It is mounted under glass against a red backing, and is presented in a wooden frame with a wire for hanging to its verso.

Condition

- fair; holes to skin at lower right and left; tears throughout edges particularly to upper right; creasing and punctures along upper edge from previous mounting; pins along edges for mounting; some clouding to underside of glass; scratches and abrasions throughout frame.
