Beth Hertz Mixed Media Compositions

Item Details

A collection of three pastel drawings and one watercolor on paper of abstract composition by well-listed artist Beth Hertz (American; b. 1920), circa 1976. Featured in this collection is a drawing titled Temple Gate, a geometric watercolor, and a sketch on graph paper rendered with bright hues. Temple Gate is signed and dated in graphite to the lower left and two others contain the artist’s estate stamp to the lower right. They are all presented as a loose work without a frame or mat.

Beth Hertz studied with Stanton MacDonald-Wright and was influenced by early 20th-century Synchromism, a modernist American movement that explored the relationship between color and music. Hertz studied at the Art Students League in New York, the Dayton Art Institute, and received her MFA at Ohio University. Her paintings have been collected by museums as well as private and corporate collections in New York, Massachusetts, Ohio, Iowa and California.
