An oil painting on canvas of an abstract still life by well listed American artist Edgar Yaeger (1904-1997), dated 1934. This painting depicts a still life arrangement comprised of various fruit situated on a white surface. The painting is signed and dated in red paint to the lower right. The composition remains unframed.
Known for his modern abstract style and his WPA murals of the Depression era, Yaeger was influenced by European modernists such as Paul Cézanne, Pablo Picasso and Giorgio de Chirico. Yaeger’s work has been exhibited at many institutions including the Museum of Modern Art, the Detroit Institute of Art, the Corcoran Gallery, the Art Institute of Chicago, and the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, among others.
