Hand-Knotted Persian Mashhad Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Mashhad area rug. This large wool rug is offered in an ornate curvilinear design beginning with a star medallion and attached pendants to the center field with matching spandrels. The rug is worked in a palette of cerulean, ecru, indigo, plum and caramel grounded in madder red. The remaining field features an all-over herati pattern with floral arrangements, lancet leaves and palmettes. Framing the field are flower heads, carnation meander guards and a main border with stylized herati designs. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing with ivory warp fringe at either end. Unlabeled.
