A hand-knotted Inscribed Persian Mashhad area rug. This wool rug begins with a floral medallion with attached pendants to the center field. It is filled with ornate leaf designs along with palmettes and framed with curvilinear lancet leaves. It is worked in powder blue, ecru, cream, red and black. The remaining red field is filled with floral bouquets, also framed with curvilinear lancet leaves and joined by black grounded spandrels. Framing the rug are several carnation meander borders with a main border boasting ornate leaf designs and large shah abbasi pendants. It also contains an inscription to the center outer border to the short end, in Arabic lettering. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing with ivory warp fringe to either end. Unlabeled.
