Hand-Knotted Persian Sarouk Wool Area Rug
Item Details
A hand-knotted Persian Sarouk area rug. The wool rug begins with a quatrefoil floral medallion and four large palmettes worked in indigo, salmon, coral, ivory and tan. It is set over a watermelon field infilled with Shah Abbasi, winding vines and lancet leaves joined by complimentary spandrels grounded in denim blue. Framing the field are a pair of carnation meander guard borders and an ornate densely filled palmette primary border. Selvedges are overcast, finishing with short ivory warp fringe at either end. Unlabeled.
