Cleveland Fare Box

A Cleveland fare box. This vintage metal piece was used to collect bus or trolley fares. It features a metal and glass top with a slot for coins, set on a blue finished cast metal base with a hinged door. Below the door embossed lettering reads “Cleveland Fare Box Patents Pending Chicago ILL.” A full-page sized label affixed to one side of the box lists rider etiquette rules ‘No littering, No smoking, No radio without earphones’.
