Paul Chidlaw Collection of Abstract Relief Prints on Paper
Item Details
Unsigned
A collection of three abstract block relief prints on paper by well-listed American Abstract Expressionist Paul Chidlaw (Cincinnati, 1900 – 1989). These three prints, dominated by a warm palette of pink, red, and orange, are constructed of a series of layered organic shapes on a background of white. These prints are unsigned but carry a stamp from the artist’s estate on the verso of each. These pieces are unframed and await your choice of presentation.
Chidlaw was born in Cleves, Ohio and studied at both the Cincinnati Art Academy and L’Ecole des Beaux Arts in Fontainebleau, France. He returned to Cincinnati where he then taught at the Art Academy mentoring many students. He was considered a pioneer of the Abstract movement, at the time, and he remains one of Cincinnati’s best-loved native artists. His artwork is displayed at the Cincinnati Art Museum and Xavier University.
