An antique European oil painting on canvas. This mid 19th century landscape painting depicts a vibrant sunset reflecting off of a small lake lined with dense foliage. A castle on a distant hillside with two peaked towers dominates the horizon. A second structure on yet another hill is cloaked in the hazy atmospheric perspective of the evening air. Only three staggered turret windows of a watchtower are clearly visible. The unsigned work is presented in a simple wooden frame with a gold tone liner. There is a hanging wire mounted to the verso.

- craquelure throughout painting; paint missing in various places on painting; toning on painting; toning, debris, and foxing on verso of canvas; inpainting at center right; indentation on canvas at bottom right; residue, chips, and wear throughout frame; cracks throughout gold-toned portion of frame.
