A handwoven and embroidered North African Tunisian wool area rug. This rug is rendered in a palette of ivory, black, wheat, sand, and tawny brown. The field begins with a black woven ground and features embroidered geometric patterns throughout, forming diamonds, and diagonal stripes. Framing the densely patterned field are multiple borders including amulet forms, diamonds, and sawtooth patterns, with triangular shapes throughout. Finishing this rug are overcast selvedges and a charcoal colored twisted cotton warp fringe to the ends, as well as a label to the underside.
