Antique Silhouette Jewelry Box

Item Details

An antique silhouette jewelry box. The box features a rectangular form with a glass top depicting a female figure on a swing while two male figures push her, with a dog running underfoot and trees to either side leading to a curving vine border. The box has a carved floral and cross design over repeating crescents to the gold tone painted exterior. The hinged lid opens to reveal an interior mirror and three storage spaces. There is no visible maker’s mark which is typical of wares at the time.

Condition

- tearing to lining inside; residue to top of lid; wear to wood; stains and wear to underside.
