Handwoven and Embroidered Pictorial Wall Hangings
Item Details
A selection of handwoven and/or embroidered wall hangings. The selection contains three pictorial weavings, in a variety of colors and styles. Included is an earth-tone Peruvian piece, which is divided into several horizontal panels. Four of the panels contain woven images, including a llama-like animal, a woman, birds, a house and landscape elements; these are woven with warp and weft threads amid backgrounds of warp threads only. The second piece is a Central American-style backstrap weaving in a palette of royal blue, red, celadon, pink, green and canary yellow. This piece features embroidered images of birds, over a royal blue background, with a region of warp-only blue threads at the top and the ends of the piece wrapped around wooden loom straps. The third piece is brightly embroidered in fuchsia, canary, royal blue, orange and emerald. It features rainbow-like arches and images of cats, deer and other animals over a cream fabric backing. The pieces are unmarked.

- to fair; blue wall hanging has some dirt/marks.
Dimensions
- measured brown and tan wall hanging (narrow but longest wall hanging) without hanging string; hanging string adds add 4.5" to depth.
