Hand Woven Wool Baluch Mir-a-Boteh Prayer Rug

A hand woven Baluch wool prayer rug. This prayer rug has a Mir-a-boteh pattern within a traditional Baluch mirhab. To the top is a hooked gul along with a boxed floret, _ Lesghi stars_ and “hand” symbols, indicating where to place hands during prayer at either side. This rug is worked in a deep ruby red field with cream and black accents. Surrounding the center field are barber pole and stylized diamond chains along with hooked device running water patterns, flower heads and S chains. Selvedges are triple overcast, finishing with knotted warp fringe at each end. Unlabeled.
