Handwoven Central American Textiles on Backstrap Looms
Item Details
A selection of two Central American handwoven textiles still on primitive looms. The pieces were intentionally left incomplete to illustrate the method used to weave intricate decorative textiles. One length of cloth has a deep pink background with bands of geometric motifs in various colors. The other piece has an ocean blue background and features different geometric elements separated by narrow stripes. The structure of the looms allows the pieces to be displayed on a vertical surface as well as on a horizontal one.
Condition
- edges are frayed a bit.
