Large Hand-Knotted Sino-Persian Area Rug
Item Details
A large Sino-Persian area rug. This Chinese-made wool rug is hand-knotted in a palette of gold and cream, with prominent detail in crimson, rose, sapphire and olive. It features an allover floral design incorporating stylized palmettes, flowers, leaves and scrolling vines over a gold field. The field is framed by eight borders, including a wide herati main border grounded in cream and filled with palmettes, flowers, leaves and vines. Selvedges are overcast, the rug finishing at each end with ivory cotton warp fringe. It is unlabeled.
