An oil portrait painting on canvas of a woman. This unsigned piece depicts an grey haired woman in profile wearing a pale blue bonnet and a heavy grey and red dress. The painting is presented in a gold tone gesso and wood frame with an elaborate raised floral design. A wire for hanging purposes is present to the verso.
Condition
- 2" slash to the upper right margin, resulting in torn canvas and media loss; UV light shows heavy inpainting to canvas; to the lower, center, right is a blemish as the result of a canvas repair; painting shows aging cracks and some alligatoring;
edge wear to frame, a chunk of gesso is missing from the lower center, left of frame; gesso is cracking on frame throughout.
