A circa 1890s oil painting on canvas by Duchynsky. The piece depicts the portrait of a female figure with solemn expression, wearing a floral and feathered hat and a mottled brown dress with lace trim and large puffed sleeves. The work is signed ‘Duchynsky’ in dark red paint to the upper right. It is presented without glass in a gold tone wooden frame fitted with hanging wire to the verso.
Condition
- to fair; craquelure present to center of composition, most noticeably to figure’s face and hat; abrasions, nicks and media loss to painting along lower margin, especially to lower left; scattered scratching and surface wear to canvas; wear and discoloration to frame and canvas verso; nicks, scratches and edge wear to frame; no backing paper present; UV light does not reveal any prior restoration.
