A collection of restrike woodblocks after Japanese artist Kitagawa Utamaro’s (喜多川 歌麿, c. 1753-1806) Abalone Divers. These three prints depict women sitting with their feet at the water’s edge, a mother nursing her child near a basket of shellfish, and a diver after returning from the water. All three include lines of calligraphic text to their upper right edges. They are mounted together on a piece of blue paper.
Condition
- fair; foxing and discoloration throughout edges and inside blue paper folder; hole at left side on back of closed folder; discoloration on each print.
